The Guilford Battleground Company is pleased to announce that effective February 1, 2011 Maureen Hartigan joined the organization as its Executive Director. The GBC anticipates that with her knowledge, experience and leadership skills she will assure that the organization has a long-range strategy which achieves its mission, and toward which it makes consistent and timely progress.
Her primary responsibilities include representing the GBC and its mission to funding sources, stakeholders and the community. She will be responsible for day-to-day administration of the organization: overseeing and directing the economic development planning; implementation, monitoring and evaluating all programs; and providing fund-raising through grant writing, contracts, and private donations/special events.
Maureen has over 35 years of management experience in for-profit and non-profit organizations, consulting and business ownership, Her key areas of expertise include Strategic and Business Planning, Communications and Public Information/Education, Facilitation, Education, Training, and Development, and Executive Coaching and Leadership Development. Since 1994, she has been President and Owner of her own management consulting firm, Hartigan & Associates. She has provided strategic planning and management consulting services to many organizations including businesses, government, educational and non-profit clients. Goodwill Industries of Central North Carolina, the Greensboro Public Library and the Refugee Information Network of Guilford are among her clients. Earlier in her career, she held various management positions in marketing, planning and communications with AMEC Earth & Environmental, Volvo GM Heavy Truck Corporation, TRW Inc; and General Electric Company.
After Hurricane Katrina, Maureen spent four months in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana where she helped develop a long-term community recovery plan for that parish as a subcontractor to FEMA in their Emergency Services Function…
Maureen has lived in Greensboro for 24 years. She enjoys genealogy, traveling and the theater and is a strong community volunteer. Maureen currently serves on several boards including the Fun Fourth Advisory Committee, Women’s Professional Forum Foundation and Women’s Resource Center. She also serves on the Complaint Review Committee of the Human Relations Commission of the City of Greensboro.
